Fully online, live over MS Teams

This 30-hour course is delivered by an instructor holding the CAPM®, PMP®, PgMP® and PfMP® certifications. It covers every domain assessed on the PfMP exam, following PMI's Portfolio Management Examination Content Outline (ECO).

Participants build the capabilities required to run a strategic portfolio: investment governance, alignment with organisational strategy and optimisation of overall portfolio performance.

Eligibility requirements set by PMI

To apply for the PfMP exam, PMI requires one of the following two paths:

Path A (secondary degree)
High school diploma or global equivalent, 96 months of professional business experience within the last 15 years and 84 months of portfolio management experience.

Path B (four-year degree)
Bachelor's degree or global equivalent, 96 months of professional business experience within the last 15 years and 48 months of portfolio management experience.

Prerequisites recommended by Atypix

Solid reading comprehension in English is recommended, as the exam is primarily delivered in English.

Significant experience in governance, portfolio management, strategic PMO or program leadership is strongly advised.

Holding the PMP or PgMP certification is an advantage but is not required.

Module 1. Introduction to portfolio management and the PfMP® certification (2 hours)

Portfolio management according to PMI. Differences between project, program and portfolio. Overview of The Standard for Portfolio Management. Structure of the PfMP® exam. Application process and panel review.

Module 2. Strategic alignment of the portfolio (6 hours)

Analysing organisational strategy. Translating strategic objectives into initiatives. Building the target portfolio. Value and benefits management. Keeping the portfolio aligned with strategy over time.

Module 3. Portfolio governance (6 hours)

Governance frameworks and decision structures. Setting up portfolio committees. Approval and prioritisation processes. Managing policies, procedures and controls. Compliance and audit management.

Module 4. Portfolio performance management (6 hours)

Defining key performance indicators. Measuring value created. Tracking overall portfolio performance. Variance analysis and corrective action. Strategic dashboards.

Module 5. Risk and organisational capacity management (4 hours)

Identifying and assessing portfolio risks. Managing interdependencies. Optimising organisational capacity. Managing strategic resources. Arbitrating between competing investments.

Module 6. Communication and stakeholder engagement (2 hours)
