What is ISO/IEC 27001?
ISO/IEC 27001 is the international benchmark standard for information security management. It defines how to set up and maintain an information security management system (ISMS): protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data. The certification attests mastery of the standard and its implementation.
In a context where cybersecurity is becoming critical, it is a highly sought-after skill.
Who is ISO/IEC 27001 for?
The certification is for professionals involved in information security and compliance.
- Security leads and analysts (CISOs, SOC analysts)
- Auditors and compliance leads
- IT managers and DPOs
- Governance and risk management consultants
Prerequisites
The Foundation level is open to all, with no prerequisite. General IT and security awareness helps but is not required. Advanced levels (Lead Implementer, Lead Auditor) exist to go further.
The ISO/IEC 27001 exam
The exam is taken online with proctoring through the certifying body (APMG). It validates understanding of the standard and its requirements. It is not a Pearson VUE exam.
The precise conditions are set by the certifying body, which remains the authoritative source.
